Illawarra Missions Day is an exciting, biblical missions day with a global perspective and regional impact. It is celebrating its 7th year in the Illawarra, and each year it gets bigger and better!

IMD is two events, one theme. We aim to make it fun, interactive, and informative.

The theme “Gripped by Grace” will be addressed in variety of exciting and informative ways including electives, panel and personal interaction with mission representatives.

.................................................................................................................................................................................................

Both the youth and the open event are truly multifaceted. They contain elements of a:
- careers/missions market
- discussion forum
- concert
- church service
- workshop
- youth group
- hang-out-and-meet-new-&-awesome-like-minded-people thing

In fact, Illawarra Missions Day is all of these things, lovingly mixed together to create a steaming, delectable broth of awesomeness! (Too much?)

.................................................................................................................................................................................................

Hear from Mike Raiter (principal of BCV) and Malcolm Gill (lecturer at SMBC) as they share their story of how they were gripped by grace and how God is reaching people across the world with His grace and planting churches amongst them.

What is your response to the challenge of the unreached who need to hear of God's grace?

The core organisers of IMD are a group of passionate people from different churches in the Illawarra. Couple this with leading speakers in mission from Bible Colleges in Australia, real representatives from mission agencies and fellowship with other Christians, and you have a dynamic mix of people together under God.

AIM

The goal of Illawarra Missions Day is to get people excited about global mission!

We want three key things to happen. We want people to:

  • SEE THE NEED: Be reminded of God’s amazing grace and salvation through Jesus. See the importance (that is, the urgency and the privilege) of sharing His message with people from every nation, tribe, language and tongue.
  • Therefore we will :: have a worship time & speaker’s talk

  • BE ENCOURAGED: Share some things that God is doing in the lives of his people around the world – where the Gospel is going out, how lives are being changed, the blessings of new churches and groups of believers.
  • Therefore we will :: have some interviews/ testimonies, and give people opportunities to talk to mission reps and to each other!

  • BE INSPIRED: Be inspired and challenged to action… inspired to: pray for workers overseas, the persecuted or for new Christians; partner with a missionary family (e.g. remembering them in prayer, sending care packages, giving); plan for the future and see how the gifts God has given them and the circumstances he has placed them in can be used for his glory.
  • Therefore we will :: run workshops where people can explore different themes in mission, and have stalls to provide a starting point for action – a place to talk to people who have done this and see how to get involved
